Indus Hotels is proud to announce the appointment of Todd Schirtzinger as Chief Operating Officer, effective August 4, 2025. With over two decades of hospitality leadership, Schirtzinger joins Indus Hotels at a time of exciting expansion, as the company prepares to open several new properties across key markets.

Indus Hotels today announced it has been recognized with a 2019 Hilton Legacy Award for Lifestyle Brands Developer of the Year. The annual awards program celebrates owners and development partners in the Americas for contributions toward brand excellence and development efforts.

Hilton announced the opening of its newest hotel, the dual-branded Home2 Suites Columbus Grove City and Tru by Hilton Columbus Grove City. Located near Pinnacle Golf and Country Club and Berliner Sports Park, the property is a unique new addition to Grove City’s lodging offerings. The hotel expands Hilton’s growing footprint of multi-brand properties in the state.

In a matter of weeks, Columbus hotel developer and operator Indus Hotels has seen the performance of it’s portfolio take a nosedive as the coronavirus pandemic hits the hotel sector particularly hard.

The Canopy by Hilton, the first of many hotels planned for Columbus in the coming years, is set to open Tuesday, July 30th 2019. The 12-story complex at 77 E. Nationwide Blvd. is next to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse and across from the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

“This is a lifestyle hotel,” said Alan Assaf, chief operating officer for Indus Hotels. “It’s artsy, edgy. Not like a traditional Hilton. it’s meant to be part of the community.”

Indus Hotels partnered with Schottenstein Property Group to develop the project. It was built by Turner Construction and designed by Braun and Steidl.
